Art at the Library

Dr. Edward Nejat with Library Director, Carolyn Reid and Dean Gotto and his donated winning work, Bar

The artwork on display in the Weill Cornell Medical Library is a combination of the Library's permanent collection and works on display as part of our art exhibitions. The Library produces three to four art shows per year. Art exhibits serve the dual purpose of:

  • Enhancement of the library environment
  • Outreach and engagement with the community

Dr. Edward Nejat won the Golden Harvest Award for Best in Show of the 13th Medical Complex Art Show in 2004. Dr. Nejat (shown at right with Library Director, Carolyn Reid and Dean Gotto) generously donated the winning work, Bar, to the Library to enhance its permanent collections.

Schedule of Exhibits

The calendar begins in the fall with the Medical Complex Art Show. This show displays the works of faculty, staff and students of the Weill Cornell Medical College and Graduate School of Medical Sciences, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, Hospital for Special Surgery, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and Rockefeller University, with a virtual component including work from Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar and WCMC alumni during reunion years.

Works of members of local art groups are featured in the winter, spring and summer shows.
